Banagher 3-7 Grennan College, Thomastown, Kilkenny 2-3
In their second game of the year, the Junior Camogie team recorded a fine win over Grennan College Thomastown in Banagher on Monday November 14th 2011. The Thomastown girls had the perfect start when their centreforward goaled after 20 seconds. In the fourth minute Mary Ellen McMahon won a 20 metre free and Gráinne Dolan made no mistake to stick the sliotar in the net. This score inspired the Banagher girls and two further Gráinne Dolan points allied to one from Louise Flannery put them ahead. Thomastown responded with two of their own before we had the best score of the day. Aoife McLoughlin collected a Méabh Doorley clearance and her delivery was excellently fielded by Siobhán Reddin who turned and planted the ball in the corner of the net to leave Banagher ahead 2-4 to 1-2 at the break. The second half was ten minutes old before Gráinne Dolan goaled again, this time from close range. Further Dolan points and one from Michaela Sommerville McCreevy consolidated the win as Grennan College only registered another 1-1. Ann Daly and Danielle Walshe were excellent in defence also. This team must now travel to St Brigid’s College Callan, Co Kilkenny next where a win would qualify them for a Leinster Semi final against New Ross away.
